The world's first 380-meter power transmission tower rose from the ground. The Zhoushan five-terminal flexible DC project is unique globally. As the world's first five-terminal flexible DC project, it is the most powerful testimony to China's independent innovation in DC transmission. It laid the world's first 500 kV cross-linked polyethylene submarine cable and built the country's first 5,000-ton cable-laying construction vessel, Qifan 9, making its submarine cable construction and maintenance capabilities rank first in the country.

In 2020, on the tidal flat of Yushan Island, another substation rose from the ground. The 220 kV Yudong power transmission and transformation project was completed and put into operation. This is the most difficult and fastest-built 220 kV power transmission and transformation project in Zhoushan. More than 300 builders worked around the clock, tirelessly overcoming challenges such as tight schedules, high standards, and difficult communication, completing the Yudong power transmission and transformation project in nine months. The "Battle of Shangganling" in the Yushan petrochemical power grid construction was fully won.

Over the past five years, the Zhoushan power grid added 8 substations of 35 kV and above, added 6.3868 million kVA of main transformer capacity, and added kilometers of lines of 35 kV and above. Total social electricity consumption increased 2.5 times in five years, breaking through the 10 billion mark.
In August 2017, submarine cables were successfully laid between Dongji Miaozihu Island and Dongfushan Island, marking the connection of the last "isolated grid" township in Zhoushan to the main grid. In July 2019, the 10 kV second circuit submarine cable laying project from Lvhua Island to Huaniao Island in Shengsi, Zhoushan, was completed and put into operation, completely rewriting the history of single-circuit power supply for the popular tourist destination Huaniao Island.
